Peter Lavery began tennis coaching at the age of 16 by taking group sessions at Hamilton, the club he played for, and going onto assist with county training for the West of Scotland.
In 1990 Peter spent a year coaching at SportTennis club in Brisbane, Australia before studying for a sport science degree at Strathclyde University. Following his degree he took up a short term coaching position in the US, which reaffirmed his aspirations to follow a career in the game he loved.
In 1996 Peter became Head Coach at West Middlesex Tennis Club in Ealing where he coached juniors and seniors of mixed abilities. Three and a half years later Peter moved to Chesham Bois Tennis Club to take up the challenge of Head Coach where he has been ever since, nearly 13 years!
Peter has worked with players of all ages and levels, from 2 year olds to national standard players, wheelchair tennis to rusty rackets. Peter’s biggest achievement was coaching two junior players from 8 years old and watching their tennis careers unfold when they both played junior Wimbledon in 2011.
Coaching for Peter is something very special; not only helping to improve his player’s game but also by bringing fun, enjoyment and a sense of achievement to all who he teaches
Peter is an LTA Level 4 ICA Coach, fully licensed with 24 years experience.
Jo Head achieved her first coaching qualification at 17, going on to take a degree in sport and exercise science at the University of Bath where she helped with the university tennis coaching programme. The degree gave Jo a great interest in biomechanics and how this was changing the world of sport and coaching.
Jo joined the Chesham Bois Tennis Club coaching team in 2004. Although Jo coaches all age groups and abilities she has taken a particular interest in coaching juniors of 10 & Under and is now Head of Mini Tennis. Her greatest coaching achievement came when one of her players was invited to U10 regional training. In 2009 Jo became 8 & Under County Captain for Buckinghamshire and as part of her role she assists with the county talent identification days and also assists at regional id days.
In 2011 Jo became a qualified referee, qualified to run mini tennis tournaments at the club for our juniors as well as others from around the region.
Jo is a LTA Level 3 Performance Coach working towards the next level. Her coaching aim is to help everyone reach their potential whatever it maybe, whilst having fun and enjoying the game of tennis.

Matt Reid began tennis coaching at the age of 15 at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre, where he had himself been coached and played.
Matt built his early experience assisting top coaches in the area with classes of 3 – 15 year olds of both able and disabled abilities. He combined this with his love of ski racing where he is also a qualified coach.
Having studied surveying at university, while continuing to coach at all levels, Matt realised his love for coaching and decided to make this his career.
Matt continued coaching at Craiglockhart as well as helping with camps at Morton Hall Tennis Club. Four of his students went on to successfully compete at Scottish Junior level for the East of Scotland.
Matt was Head Coach the the Mark Warner Group in Greece, running a tennis programme for all ages, with the assistance of four coaches.
Returning to the UK Matt coached briefly at Craiglockhart again before joining Chesham Bois Tennis Club as full time coach, coaching tots to adults.
Realising many players do not have the fitness an stamina required to compete, Matt has introduced strength & conditioning work to the program and is attending several courses on this discipline in order to incorporate into talented young players programmes.
Matt believes coaching should be hard work but fun and aims to bring a sense of achievement to all those he teaches.
Matt is an LTA Level 3 Performance Coach with 9 years experience and an U10 development speciality.
