Men’s team squash – 1A v Uxbridge, 16 March 2016

The 1a’s entertained Uxbridge off the back of their great victory over GX the week before. Again they were short of a player at the top of the order, but put up a very valiant fight against a strong Uxbridge side. The first string got things underway and despite a fast start Dan faded against the guile of Gurbhaj to lose 3-1. Chris Wildman’s match followed a similar pattern with Chris playing a near perfect first game, but then struggled to maintain his level against a younger opponent going down 3-1. Will Gardner then took on the classy Mike McClaughlin in the game of the night. Will started brilliantly taking the first two games with a display of shot making from all parts of the court. Mike fought back and each remaining game was nip-and-tuck, however Mike just pipped each one to run out a 3-2 victor. Despite the result being decided, Paul and Ben then restored pride to the home side with relatively comfortable 3-1 victories.

Overall a great evening of squash and a good points haul which moves the 1a team up to 4th in Division 1 with three games remaining.
